Hi,
Are you thinking about launching a directory? Then, validate your directory niche BEFORE you launch.
Hereβs the exact 5-step test you can run π
Check #1: Search volume (β₯500/mo)
If it has fair search volume, then that means it has good audience potential on search
Check #2: Search Result density β count search results on page 1.
What kind of results do you see?
Is it a list of datasets, or directories, or Reddit conversations where people are asking for solutions?
β buyers exist.
Check #3: Check competitors
Just do a normal search for your existing idea and see if you can find any spun-off competitors.
If it exists, it's a good sign tbh.
Check #4: Reddit or Social Media conversations
Are people talking about your idea or just the pain point in general on Reddit or X?
Pro tip: Go to Grok, enable deep research, and just drop your subreddit and ask Grok what pain points people are discussing here.
Check #5: Any room for improvement on an Existing idea
If you find any existing competitors, do you see any good moat or anything you can do to stand out?
If yes, you can start building and position it uniquely to stand out
I hope this helps a bit.
